Frustrated FOOTBALL Fan?

By Joan Endicott {GIANT Slayer Coaching}
So, the team you always support, spend hundreds of dollars’ on season tickets to attend home games, sunk even more money into all the FAN-appropriate clothes, hats, and accessories for the entire family…and WHAT? They LOST the game? Are you serious? Are you kidding me? How dare they lose!

{Powerful Perspective!}

I met a man who shared his very personal Football Frustration with me:  I used to get so angry when the team I was rooting for, lost.  I would lose my temper, scream and yell at the television. I would literally go into a deep depression for days.  It affected everything in my life.  My work suffered and my family knew it was best to say very little to me during those dark days.

Two years ago when my son was home from college on break, after dinner one night, he was helping his friend put a new stereo in his car.    Before they got it in, two thugs attempted to steal the stereo and my son was shot and killed in the process.

Since my son’s death, everything…I mean EVERYTHING changed!  I try to take nothing for granted because I know how quickly it can be taken from you.  I don’t sweat the small stuff anymore. Most of the things people stress over is stupid, small stuff.

I think back now about how childish and ridiculous I was.  I’m embarrassed and ashamed that I allowed a sports event to steal so much from me.  I can’t get my son back or all that lost and wasted time.  But now I look at everything completely different.  I still watch sports and enjoy it – but not affected at all by the outcome.  I now see it for what it is – A GAME!
